Going the Extra 525 Miles

Despite the 525 mile round trip, Quisia, Rehab Director, knew she was not going to let Ms. Leslie Maron miss her granddaughter’s wedding in Fredericksburg. After all, if it’s important to our elders, it’s important to us. Quisia jumped into action and brought the problem to the team along with her solution, “I want to drive her there and back.” Without hesitation, Jen, Assistant Director of Nursing, volunteered to ride along to assist with needs that may arise. The news  began to spread prompting others to offer their contributions. Elisa, Certified Nurse Assistant, knew that Ms. Maron would want to look her best, so she volunteered to come up early Saturday morning around 6:30am to get her ready for the big day. Dustin, Physical Therapy Assistant, recognized that it would be a long day for his traveling teammates so he volunteered to help get Ms. Maron settled once they arrived back home that night.

With a plan in place, Jen, Quisia and Ms. Maron hit the road at 9:45am and arrived at the venue around 2:45pm. After one last pampering session to add the final touches to her look, she was ready to be dropped off at the wedding. When the girls came back to pick her up, they found Ms. Maron surrounded by her family and beaming with joy. After many hugs and good-byes from family members, they  headed  back home to  League City.  As they got  closer, they knew they’d need Dustin’s help so they stopped by his house at 1:15am and found him sitting outside waiting for them, ready to go. With his help, the team had Ms. Maron settled in her bed by 1:45am totally exhausted but completely fulfilled. At The Crossings, they go the extra mile…or even the extra 525 miles.
